Apple Tablet’s secret new app

by Tod on August 14, 2009

apple-logoBilled as one of the most exciting tech releases of 2009, the Apple Tablet now looks set to make a late appearance at its own party.

Speculation rumbled around the gadget world that Apple would launch the all-new Tablet at an event in September – in time for the Christmas sales rush. However, it is now expected that the launch date will be delayed for at least six months.

The does it/doesn’t it exist debate looks to have finally been put to bed after gizmodo.com claimed that an Apple insider had leaked some secret information.

It seems that all the speculation was true, but with a twist. The Tablet will be a 10-inch touch screen that runs on iPhone’s operating system.

So what’s the twist, you ask? Well, if the rumours are true, the Tablet will have the capability to act as a secondary monitor for Apple computers!

With a 10-inch screen, this doesn’t actually sound unfeasible. Heck, it’s only two inches smaller than the smallest MacBook!

Industry experts believe that a percentage of the Tablet’s potential buyers may be put off, though. If reports are true, this new feature would only be compatible with Apple computers, leading to speculation that Apple are frantically working to make it compatible with Microsoft’s operating system, too.

Amazon’s Kindle may even be under threat from the new Tablet as it has been claimed that Apple has developed technology to allow books to be purchased and read on-screen.

The Tablet’s new features look set to appeal to gadget junkies and professionals alike, although it isn’t expected to include phone capability. It will reportedly be priced between $700 – $900.

Hmm… the second monitor feature sounds nice but I doubt that many will use it that way. The primarly function would be as a webtablet but of course, it is nice to get some other use from it.

By the way, I put together a simple page that will let you easily keep track of all the news and rumours about the tablet, check it out http://www.nwssrch.com.

And yes, you might call me a fanboy…
