Whilst the vacuum sector has advanced over previous years, it has yet to provide the autonomic and efficient means of hoovering that many a science fiction novel dreams of. And whilst a number of robotic attempts have been made, devices have largely been for novelty value rather than efficiency, with the average home lacking the funds, or the environment to house such a gadget.
However, Samsung has now introduced their new NaviBot, reinvigorating the sector and advancing the robotic industry in respects to home help. Revealing their new vacuum robot in Italy, the latest model has several design features and upgrades on previous models. Rather than have to set out guiding lines for the cleaner, an annoyance to anyone wanting to use the device long term, the Navibot uses inbuilt software to take a 30 frames per second (fps) video of its location, creating a digital map which enables movement without banging into furniture.
In addition, a docking station which recharges the bot is provided, with the automated device moving to the station whenever its power begins to wane. And whilst remaining somewhat a novelty item for the home, significant advances have been made with five cleaning methods including auto, edge clean, max, manual and spot. Meanwhile, whilst no official UK price has been revealed, a European price of 300 euro’s does not break the bank, with those wanting that extra novelty touchscreen having to pay a further 100 euro’s.
